Following a stressful Election Day on November 3rd, Americans awoke to a surge of fresh news content about the election, as votes continue to be counted in a neck to neck battle between Biden and Trump for key swing states.
In a ranting speech at around 2 AM, President Trump claimed an early (and inaccurate) win of the election, and claimed the Democrats were trying to commit "fraud" for counting votes after polls had closed. Such claims are wildly unsubstantiated, especially given that most elections have taken from hours after polls close to days after to complete the tallies of all votes, wrote The Guardian. Critics called Trump "authoritarian" for the false claims.
FiveThirtyEight continues to provide updates on the election as soon as there are updates from AP and as votes from last minute counts roll in.
Today, it seems the race has come down to some key swing states. Biden managed to flip Arizona to blue, despite Trump winning the state in 2016, but was not able to flip Texas or Florida, which Trump won in what was a foreboding turn of events for Democrats. The race continues to be much closer than Democrats previously believed, The Mercury News reveals, and will come down to the final counts in states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania.
