Long-running TV star and host of her own self-titled show, TV personality Ellen has announced the end to her decades-long show. The beginning of the star's end came last year, when celebrity guest Dakota Johnson called out the host for not attending her birthday party (in a semi-joking, semi-serious statement). Swaths of people began to come forward afterwards, calling out Ellen for mistreatment of her employees and making fun of Sofia Vergara's accent, among other issues.
What followed was a mass exodus of celebrities and popular figures leaving Ellen's side. There came an investigation of the working conditions on Ellen's show for both permanent employees and hired interns, which in the end did find some forms of mistreatment.
The cable network initially announced plans to replace Ellen as the host of her show (who would have thought), but then seemed to do a 180 as they discovered that Ellen's show could not be saved. As such, Ellen recently announced a sad end to her TV show. She also apologized, in a monologue that many critics are saying is not an apology. The star cited the show having many different buildings as a reason for her not knowing of the mistreatment of her employees, and shirked responsibility for the accusations.
