Trump launched this week a new blog called "From the Desk of Donald Trump" which will allow his followers to read written statements, watch video statements, and hear the thoughts of the former president on current issues. The website comes more than four months after the president's ban from Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and many other social media apps following Tweets that seemed to support the storming of the capitol on the day of the election vote tabulating by Congress. Twitter then suspended Trump's account for "inciting violence" and going against many of the site's guidelines.
Facebook's recent plans to review Trump's account and decide whether he will be allowed back on the platform seem to be the event that incited the website's launch. Though supporters will not be able to interact with Trump's posts or even comment--the site is not the social media site for far right and Trump-supporting antics that Trump claimed he would create in retaliation to his banning--they will be able to repost his words on other websites, thanks to a loophole in the sites' guidelines.
The blog includes some of Trump's past written statements from the last four months, including a video statement he released soon after the storming of the Capitol. The president has been blogging frequently since the site's release, and officials for Trump have announced that a more social media-geared Trump site is in the works for Trump supporters. Fox News was the first to break the news of the new website.
Trump seems to still be set on continuing his campaign, and possibly running for the new presidential election. Top Republicans have in recent days spoken out against this, saying that the party needs to move away from so-called "Trumpism".
