The New Hampshire Primaries occurred on February 11th, and every major news site seemed to have some type of article on the topic. CNN and Fox covered news of Democratic nominee Joe Biden's abrupt cancellation of an appearance. Most major news sites, including CNN, NPR, and the NY Times have live updates for the New Hampshire Primaries.
To remain relevant, news sites must keep updates as current as possible, and I think that's an explanation for the ongoing trend of major news sites having live update pages. These pages use often interactive charts and graphs (with lots of color coding and pictures of the candidates) to show the status of each candidate in the race. This isn't the only event I've seen this type of live update page for--the sites often do the same with other elections or race results, including for sports.
